The opening intro of this I (Ed) made up on the gig as an intro to a cover we were playing at the time called Red Baron. We all liked it and a song grew from it. I thought of some other things that were red and came up with Red Pepper. Love those things. So crispy and refreshing. It has nothing to do with the lyrics that Ned wrote. Live we'd drag out that intro for minutes, Simon making some ambient delay guitar noises, getting the whole thing really going and people dancing before dropping the beat. BOOM! So good...
Stunning, ragged-edged funk and soul—if you didn’t know this was new, it could be easily mistaken for a rarities comp from the late ’60s. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 20, 2017
This was the first album I ever listened to as a teenager, and it remains as impressive as I remember it being. I really can't recommend it enough, especially if you're into experimental spacey jazzy hip hop. asherarataki
